CIM Graduation Day is always a special occasion for our students but this years’ ceremony was extra special for Vittoria Traglia, who was presented with the Worldwide Top Student Award from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. This award was in recognition for achieving the highest overall mark on the CIM Level 7 Marketing Leadership Programme.
Vittoria was presented with her award at this year’s prestigious CIM graduation ceremony, which took place on Saturday 13th November at the Central Hall in Westminster.
During the ceremony, we spoke to Vittoria to find out her experience in gaining her CIM qualification and how she felt about receiving the Top Student Award.
Why did you decide to undertake a CIM qualification?
I had decided to leave the corporate world to join a small-to-medium business with high growth potential. It was an exciting time as I was working alongside the leadership team as the Head of Marketing. I wanted to ensure that I could continue working at this level, so I decided to look at what qualifications were out there for marketers at my level.
The Marketing Leadership Programme offered by the Chartered Institute of Marketing was the perfect solution, as it focused on strategic leadership. I have always been passionate about how building an effective strategy can lead to huge business growth. This made the course the perfect fit for me as it covered strategy from all angles: leading change, managing business growth, dealing with and overcoming challenges
How has your qualification benefited you professionally and personally?
After having completed my first module with a distinction, I was immediately promoted to Head of Strategy. After having been furloughed, losing my previous job and having to reinvent myself all over again, this course has helped broaden my horizons, network with like-minded professionals and build my career from the ground up.
How did you find studying with Oxford College of Marketing?
The levels of support I received from my tutor, Jack Roberts and the wider Oxford College of Marketing team were outstanding. It was a tough time for me trying to complete my studies in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and after losing my job due to redundancy. However, the support I was given was exceptional throughout my studies and could not recommend the Oxford College of Marketing highly enough!
How do you feel about winning the top student award?
When I was contacted by The Chartered Institute of Marketing who notified me that I had won the Worldwide Top Student Award, I was speechless. I am a firm believer that hard work and perseverance pays off in the end and this award really showcased that for me. As Churchill would say: “Never let a good crisis go to waste!”
What have you gone on to do since completing your qualification?
Since completing my qualification, I have had the pleasure of joining the Antler Venture Capital as an Entrepreneur. I have hosted the ‘Entrepreneurship seminars’ at the ConnectionHub, which offers refugees the opportunity to start a new life in Europe and, as of today, I am working as a Business Growth Consultant in the start-up ecosystem. I hope I can continue to contribute to the lives of others by sharing my knowledge and experience and soon start mentoring and teaching the next generation of marketing leaders.
Jane Young, the Managing Director of the Oxford Professional Education Group also expressed her congratulations to Vittoria and said:
“Vittoria has worked tirelessly to gain her CIM Marketing Leadership Programme qualification with us and this award will only help to excel in her career as a marketer – congratulations Vittoria!”
Vittoria’s tutor, Jack Roberts the lead trainer for the Marketing Leadership Programme also commented on her achievement:
“Many congratulations Vittoria on your wonderful achievement. You were a pleasure to support through your course and I wish you all the best in your future consulting career!”
