Choosing the right qualification can do more than strengthen your marketing knowledge, it can help you build confidence, apply new skills in the workplace and open the door to career progression. For Neave Ritchie, studying with Oxford College of Marketing provided exactly that. After completing her CIM Level 4 qualification, she continued her professional development with CIM Level 6, developing practical marketing skills that have already had a significant impact on her career.
Why did you choose to study your qualification?
At University, I studied Communication and Media. Whilst that taught me everything I needed to know about how to communicate with audiences online and offline, there were missing marketing skills gaps that were essential to my multi-faceted role as a Marketing Coordinator. After completing Level 4 qualification, it made sense to move on to complete Level 6.
How has studying with us fit into your schedule and lifestyle?
By offering different classroom times (within work hours and out of work hours), this provides flexibility for students with differing roles. I was fortunate enough to attend classes during work hours, framing the sessions as part of my day-to-day work. This was essential to me for work-life balance, it meant I could manage studying time alongside my schedule inside and outside of work.
What’s one key thing you’ve learned or enjoyed most so far?
Tahlia King who supported us through the Social Media Management module was super insightful, her background in Marketing meant she was very knowledgeable about different areas. As we were all in B2B businesses, she tailored the content to point more in that direction, which allowed us to dig deeper and apply our learning to our own businesses. I thoroughly enjoyed her classes and learnt a lot throughout.
How do you think this course will help you in your career?
My whole CIM journey has already helped me massively in my career. I have been able to apply the majority of what I have learnt throughout my studying. It has also been instrumental in progression within my role.
Would you recommend this qualification and why?
Absolutely. Especially to those who might feel a bit lost or struggling to juggle a lot of plates without really having the confidence that they’re doing the right thing or with purpose. It’s a massive confidence booster and well-worth taking the time to upskill, learning in real-time to keep up with emerging trends.
