Zoe began her journey with Oxford College of Marketing just 9 months ago and has already completed her CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing and landed herself a new role.
In Zoe’s own words, she tells inspiring story of how she didn’t let knock backs stand in the way of her ambition to become a marketer.
“I set my sights on a marketing career path later than most; I was 25 years old when I took my entry level marketing role which placed me firmly at the bottom of the career ladder. Friends were entering their 4th professional year, and were quickly establishing themselves in their chosen roles. Their quick advancement fuelled my ambition.
“I steadfastly took to the job, absorbing the marketing environment, observing the processes and procedures that my managers took. My team was fantastic, and it was incredible to witness how true professional marketers worked and the unseen aspects of the role to the outsider, the experience I was gaining was an invaluable attribute.
“After 2 years in a marketing support role, I felt ready to progress to the next level. However, I was unsuccessful in the job applications that I made at this point. I felt a marketing qualification would complement my experience, add direction to my existing qualifications and fuel my growth.
“I selected the Oxford College of Marketing as my educational faculty as their structure of webinars and online forums meant that I was able to study from home, helping me to balance my studies with my fulltime job, home life and wedding planning!
“Integrating the qualification was simple, I would use my hour dinner break at work to alternate between reading the suggested texts, watching the online webinars and additional study, meaning that I hadn’t the pressure to study when I arrived home that evening. This solid study structure of just 1 hour a day meant that in just 9 months I had completed all the three modules of the certificate with very little impact on my work or personal life.
“As recommended by the Oxford College of Marketing I added “studying member” to my CV and LinkedIn profiles whilst undertaking the course. With this addition, I as invited to an interview; and was offered the role that same day, which is also that day that I received my final results from CIM.
“It was expressed by the new employer, that my studying for the qualification was impressive, and valuable to his organisation.”
