As Walter Donaldson ( Centre Manager) says, “We are a private college, owned and managed by marketers for marketers. Our management team are all senior marketing professionals with considerable marketing department experience. We are passionate about delivering great marketing and the provision of outstanding marketing training. These values drive our high standards in customer services, staffing, course materials and flexible programmes”.
CIM courses in South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana
In order to assist students with their CIM courses in South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana Walter Donaldson will be managing students from Johannesburg. The objective is to be able to provide better locally based support for Oxford College of Marketing overseas students through working with a local, experienced professional marketer.
Walter says, “In this way, students don’t get the perception that they are ‘on their own’ as seems to be the case with many distance learning programmes”.
Walter will be assisting and advising all our learners in Southern Africa, providing guidance on the right qualifications and making sure that they are on the right level courses. He will also assist learners on getting started with their studies. Communication with Walter will be made through local telephonic, Skype and face to face contact.
It is envisaged that additional intensive weekend classes and face to face tuition will be arranged throughout the year to encourage and refresh learners during the course and closer to examinations.
What makes CIM professional qualifications different?
The difference between the CIM qualifications and those provided by other marketing institutes is that The Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications focus on the practical application of marketing skills. This means that students do more applied assignments to real work problems than exams. Employers benefit directly from this method of assessment because the assignments are based on the business and benefit directly – as do the students who are able to move from the theory based exams that other marketing courses may still be doing.
Another difference is that students are accepted onto the courses from many different types of background, both academic and with work experience. There are entries at four levels: Introductory, Certificate, Diploma and Post Graduate and it is possible to be accepted at any level, depending on qualifications and experience – this can save time and money.

Why Join the CIM?
“The CIM is the world’s largest organisation for professional marketers with more than 45,000 members world wide. There are approximately 5,600 Chartered Marketers in over 100 countries throughout the world and a further 15,000 members currently working towards Chartered Marketer status.”
As Walter says, “With the need for internationally recognised marketing courses and the increasing mobility of the work force, we realised there was an opportunity to offer world class professional marketing qualifications through our distance learning training programmes.”
Walter says, “This is a great opportunity for marketing learners to get an international qualification with a global institute such as the CIM without having to register for local marketing programmes which tend to be a stepping stone towards CIM recognition anyway. Why spend all that money on local courses when you can go the direct route for approximately the same price, or in some cases a lot less?” He added. “ and what is more move onto to a Masters in Marketing . This is an ideal way to work and earn.”
